Football on the Bellarine is set to benefit from a major investment in the Drysdale Sports Precinct, with Stage 2 of the development now underway.
The $14.5 million project at Belchers Road will deliver a new dedicated football pitch with LED lighting and player shelters, along with a new multi-use pavilion featuring modern change rooms for players and referees, a first aid room, office, canteen, kitchen, social space and storage.
The project will also include improved road access, car parking, accessible pathways, landscaping and upgraded water storage facilities.
The development is a significant milestone for Drysdale Soccer Club, which has experienced substantial growth in recent years. The club now has approximately 350 playing members across 29 teams, including close to 300 junior boys and girls, with female players making up around 30 per cent of its membership.
The new facilities will provide important infrastructure to support that continued growth and create more opportunities for players, coaches, volunteers and families across the Bellarine.
The project is being delivered through funding from all three levels of government, including $6 million from the City of Greater Geelong, $5 million from the Victorian Government through Sport and Recreation Victoria, and $3.5 million from the Australian Government.
