Football Victoria Geelong is proud to celebrate a fantastic achievement for our region, with Geelong players named as captains for the upcoming Emerging Matildas and Emerging Socceroos Championships.
With three Geelong girls and five Geelong boys selected to lead their respective teams, this recognition highlights the strength of leadership, character and talent within our local football community.
The Emerging Championships bring together the country’s top young players across two major events in April:
- Emerging Matildas Championships: 9–15 April, Home of the Matildas (Melbourne)
- Emerging Socceroos Championships: 18–24 April, Valentine Sports Park (Sydney)
Being named captain at this level is a significant honour, reflecting not only individual performance but also leadership qualities and the ability to inspire teammates.
