Excitement Builds for the First-Ever Western United Cup Geelong

Football fever is set to hit Geelong this April as the inaugural Western United Cup Geelong approaches, with registrations now open for what promises to be an unforgettable weekend of action.

Following the success of the Western United Cup in Ballarat, a tournament dedicated to girls’ football, this new event expands the competition to include both boys’ and girls’ teams from Under-8s to Under-13s. After last year’s record-breaking turnout of nearly 100 teams in Ballarat, the Geelong edition is expected to reach even greater heights.

Be Part of History in Geelong

Running from Friday 11 April to Sunday 13 April, the tournament will take place at Stead Park, home of Geelong Soccer Club. Players and fans alike can look forward to a thrilling three days filled with high-energy matches, community spirit, and a fantastic football atmosphere.

With spots expected to fill up fast, teams are encouraged to register early. The cost is $75 per player, with a $100 team deposit, ensuring a well-organised and competitive event for all involved.

Strengthening Football in Geelong and Beyond

Western United has long embraced the Geelong and Surf Coast region, an area rich in football history and home to more than 20 junior clubs. Some of Australia’s greatest football talents, including Western United’s own Steve Horvat, have emerged from this football-loving community.

Since playing its first-ever home game at GMHBA Stadium in 2019, Western United has continued to strengthen its ties with Geelong. This tournament marks another step in fostering that connection, offering young players an exciting opportunity to compete, develop their skills, and be part of something special over the Term 1 school holidays.
