Local coaches and volunteers recently came together at Golden Plains Soccer Club to take part in a Foundations of Football coaching course, continuing the development of grassroots football across the Geelong region.
The course provided participants with practical coaching tools and ideas to help create enjoyable, player-focused training environments. Designed for coaches working with beginner and junior players, the session emphasised the importance of learning through fun, engaging football activities.
Throughout the course, coaches explored ways to organise small-sided games, encourage player involvement and build confidence in young players while maintaining a positive and supportive environment.
Coach education plays an important role in strengthening local football. By supporting volunteers and developing coaching knowledge, clubs can provide better experiences for players at all levels of the game.
Football Geelong would like to thank Golden Plains SC for hosting the course and acknowledge all coaches and volunteers who gave their time to continue developing their skills.
Their commitment helps ensure that young players across the region can enjoy football, build confidence and develop a lifelong love of the game.
