More than the final score

While Grand Final weekend crowned our 2026 champions, some of the best stories to emerge from the weekend went well beyond the scoreboard.

There were parents and children representing the same club on Grand Final weekend, senior players coaching the next generation, teammates who have played together since MiniRoos and families whose connection to their club spans generations.

There were teams contesting their first Grand Finals, players returning from injury, young footballers competing above their age group and clubs celebrating the continued growth of their girls’ and women’s programs.

Over the coming weeks, Football Geelong will share some of these stories and introduce you to the players, coaches, volunteers and families behind our 2026 Grand Finalists.

Congratulations to every player, coach, team manager, referee and volunteer involved in the 2026 season, and thank you to the families and supporters who turned out across the weekend.

Most importantly, congratulations to our 2026 Football Geelong champions and to every team that earned the opportunity to represent their club on Grand Final weekend.
