Football Victoria is recognised by both the State and Federal Governments, and Football Australia as the organisation responsible for the administration, promotion and delivery of football and futsal (indoor football) in the state. Under its previous guise of Anglo Australian Football Association of Victoria, FFV commenced operation in 1884 and is one of the oldest sporting associations in Victoria. It has had several name changes over the years, including being known as the Victorian Soccer Federation (VSF), from 2005 as Football Federation Victoria and finally in 2020, officially became Football Australia.

A Brief History

The early years of football in Australia were heavily influenced by the English and Scottish immigrants. The British were complemented by migrants from all over Europe in the post-war period as the flood of “new Australians” during the 1950’s and 1960’s transformed football across the country and the game boomed.
